How Can You Address My Hyperpigmentation?

Here at Dream Spa Medical, we’re excited to be offering a wide range of treatments that will beautify and rejuvenate you both inside and out. Since every patient is highly unique, no two sun spot removal or age spot resolution procedures are exactly the same. A member of our team will get to know your skincare concerns, working with you to pick out the procedure that is right for you and your cosmetic goals.

  • The GentleMax Pro Targeted Laser Pigment Removal system is a highly effective way to restore a brighter and more uniform skin tone, addressing internal issues like hyperpigmentation and more.
  • IPL Laser Photofacial utilizes a technology known as “intense pulsed light” to break up pigmentation and resolve the presence of sun or age spots.
  • VI Peel is a customizable chemical peel that gently and effectively exfoliates your outer layer of skin, revealing the glowing and healthy layers that lie just beneath.

IPL PhotoFacial

Thanks to the innovative Intense Pulsed Light photofacial procedure, gentle skin rejuvenation is now easier than ever, enabling you to say goodbye to the effects of sun damage, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, and more. IPL photorejuvenation effectively transforms red, ruddy, blotchy skin so you can enjoy that youthful and radiant complexion you’ve been dreaming of. If you suffer from any of these issues, the impressively advanced IPL PhotoFacial treatments may be the cosmetic approach you've been looking for.

IPL PhotoFacial is a procedure in which intense pulses of light are used to penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin. IPL photorejuvenation then causes the collagen and blood vessels below your skin’s surface to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. The treatment also improves the pigmentation, tone, and texture of residual acne scars. Most benefits of a photofacial occur gradually in the weeks following your treatment, and we typically recommend three to five treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on your goals.

The VI Peel

Originally founded in Miami in 2006 and currently based in Beverly Hills, the Vitality Institute has created the next generation of chemical peels that are virtually painless, require no preparation, and have very little downtime.

While many clients see a dramatic difference in pigment issues in as little as one peel, we recommend a series of three peels, spaced three to four weeks apart for optimal results—especially for more severe skin concerns.

Advanced Recovery with ISDIN Skin Drops

This impressively lightweight, liquid foundation is a great way to avoid any short-term coloration that can sometimes come along with certain treatments, enabling you to continue your daily routine without interruption. Visit our shop to learn more about this product, along with several others that can help you truly enjoy your ideal results.

What causes unwanted dark spots?

Melanin is what gives our skin its color, and the amount of melanin in your skin determines the darkness of your complexion. Pigmented lesions are dark in color because the melanin is concentrated in one area of the skin, usually as a result of overexposure to the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays. Sometimes, this can also simply happen as a part of the natural aging process.

How does a laser remove unwanted pigment in the skin?

The laser produces a special wavelength of light that is absorbed by pigmented lesions. This light vibrates and shatters the unwanted pigment, breaking the melanin into micro-particles and lightening the lesion. You’ll notice the spot turning gray or white for a few minutes, which is a natural response of the skin as it absorbs the laser energy. The spot will then turn darker and slough off completely within one to two weeks.

What types of pigmented lesions can a laser remove?

Lasers work well to remove brown age spots, freckles, and other brown birthmarks, such as cafe-au-lait spots and Nevus of Ota. Your clinician will identify your specific type of lesion and discuss the right treatment for your condition.

Do lasers remove my normal skin pigmentation also?

No. The laser light is specifically calibrated to target the dark concentrations of melanin. After the concentrated deposit of melanin is removed, some whitening could occur. However, your body’s natural regenerative system will replace the normal melanin over a period of time, returning the skin to its natural color.

How many treatment sessions will it take to remove the pigmented lesion?

Most pigmented lesions are removed within one to two treatments. Some deeper lesions will require more treatments.

Is the process painful?

The PhotoAcoustic energy of our laser emits light in very fast, short pulses. The impact of the energy from the pulse of light is similar to the snap of a very thin rubber band. No anesthesia is needed. After your treatment, the area will feel similar to a mild sunburn. Any redness will disappear within a day or so and the skin will return to its natural color.

Can the excess pigmentation come back?

Common pigmented lesions do not return. Some birthmarks may return after a period of several months to a year. However, the procedure can be repeated.

What type of post-treatment care is necessary?

Usually, an antibacterial ointment and a dressing will be applied to the area immediately after your treatment. We’ll recommend that you keep the area clean with continued application of any ointment given to you by your clinician.
