A frequently asked question involves our defining the differences between UltraShape® and CoolSculpting®. It seems whenever one of these treatment options is mentioned questions about the other soon follow. Perhaps this is because both procedures pursue the same goal of destroying fat cells non-invasively. Both procedures are FDA-approved, non-surgical body contouring procedures but they have different methods in breaking down adipose cells.
The UltraShape® procedure utilizes high-frequency ultrasound waves that cause fat cells to burst, releasing their contents for your body to burn off as energy. In contrast, CoolSculpting, also known as cry lipolysis or ‘fat freezing’, uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat. The UltraShape treatment takes about one to 1.5 hours, and patients generally see results within two to four weeks. In contrast, a CoolSculpting treatment takes about two to six hours depending on which area is being treated, and results are seen within a few months.
UltraShape offers faster results than CoolSculpting. This is one of the clear reasons why at Dream Spa Medical, we chose UltraShape. We see great results first hand and now with the UltraShape POWER, we are able to achieve 34% permanent fat reduction. UltraShape has the highest percentage for non-invasive fat reduction procedures on the market. Whereas, CoolSculpting generally removes about 25-30% of fat in the treated area.
